Diet is the Key to Bodybuilding Results

Bodybuilding has become a popular trend nowadays.  Today’s generation is crazy about six packs. Bodybuilding is an art that calls for strong determination, dedication, routine lifestyle, regular exercising and so on.  However, did you know that 70% of bodybuilding is diet? This means that your diet is responsible for around 70% of a bodybuilder’s success at building and importantly maintaining muscle.  This is the reason why you should design and eat a balanced diet if you want to engage in bodybuilding.  This article will give you some guidance on the contents of a balanced diet:

1. Proteins

Proteins are vital to your body as they encourage the growth of muscles. In addition, they normally contribute towards the repair of worn out tissues after a workout. It’s always advisable that you ensure your meal has about 30 grams of protein.  Remember that if you take more than 30 grams of protein in a single serving, your body may not be in a position to absorb it all. It’s always good to take protein in the right quantities.

2. Carbohydrates

Simple sugars are normally absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. However, complex carbohydrates need to be broken down so you can obtain energy from them. You will notice that complex carbohydrates provide long lasting energy unlike simple sugars.  This is the reason you should try to consume complex carbohydrates before you go for a workout.  Some of the foods with complex carbohydrates include: rice, root vegetables, pasta and so on.

3. Vitamins

If you want to build muscle, big or small, you need to be fit and healthy.  Vitamins normally go a long way in ensuring that your immune system is boosted. If you have infections, you will not be in a position to start bodybuilding because your body will be very weak. Vitamins normally mitigate this by helping your immune systems fight infections.

4. Minerals

Your body needs to have the right quantities of minerals so you can start bodybuilding and stay healthy. If the food that you are consuming has little minerals, you can substitute that by drinking electrolyte drinks.

The main aim of this is to replace the lost electrolytes during exercise and bodybuilding.

5. Water

Water is crucially important to your body. Your body require water so the various physiological processes can take place. If you’re a bodybuilder, you will realize that you normally sweat a lot when exercising. This means that you tend to lose a lot of water with each workout, so you can dehydrate your body.  This is the reason you should try to consume 8 glasses of water daily.

6. Roughage

A good balanced diet has sufficient quantities of roughage so your digestion processes can take place. In addition, it goes a long way in preventing constipation.  Fruit and vegetables are perfect foods groups that contain good amounts of roughage.

If you’re a bodybuilder, diet is key to your success.  A balanced diet puts your mind and body in the ideal state to increase fitness, stay healthy and ultimately as a bodybuilder – build and maintain muscle mass.  The right diet increases you energy keeping you fit and healthy and able to train much harder and for longer periods of time.
